Good evening all,
It’s been another busy few weeks in Stephen’s 2nd Class. The boys and girls have been busy learning through station teaching in literacy and numeracy. The stations have been going well. We have also been using the station format in PE, where we have been learning gymnastics. Our forward tumbles are really coming on! We also have been learning how to strike a ball with a unihoc stick and how to dribble with it.
In literacy, we started our ‘Oral Language Bag’ and our ‘Writing Bag’ for homework. One child will get one of these bags for one night each month for their homework. The aim of this is to improve our oral language (speaking!) and our writing.
In art we were busy decorating the room with our names and with our ‘Someone Like Me’ art. In SPHE we created some goals for the year….things the children would like to achieve by the end of second class. This made a lovely display, to brighten up the room.
In Learn Together, we learned about Rosh Hashana at the start of the month and we are now learning about ‘poverty’. In SESE we will be learning a little bit about castles and Halloween in the new couple of weeks. In Gaeilge we have been learning about ‘ag siopadóireacht’ and ‘caitheamh aimsire’.
Of course, we have been learning the tin whistle, and I must say, the boys and girls in Stephen’s class are picking this up very quickly. Well done to all. I’m sure all the parents are delighted to hear children practicing at home, creating such beautiful music.
And finally, we have been highlighting some of the healthy lunches that have been coming into our classroom. Thank you to all of those parents for putting in such great effort into their children’s lunches. We have a ‘healthy eating covenant’ here in Hansfield ETNS, which means we ask parents to try to send in healthy lunches for their children when they can. So here are some examples of those fantastic lunches!
Stay tuned for more!
