Happy Chinese New Year

Xīnnián kuàilè

We were very excited to have a visit from Ling today to tell us about the Chinese Spring Festival or Chinese Lunar New Year which is celebrated on the 28th January this year. This year is the Year of the Rooster. She told us about the tradition of wearing red if you were born in the same year. People give a red envelope with money in it to pass on good luck. Houses are cleaned in preparation. Families reunite and celebrate together. It is common to watch fireworks together. Ling even taught us some Chinese. Happy New Year everyone! Xīnnián kuàilè.
