Super Hero Day – Special Olympics Fundraiser

Friday 1st February we will be holding a fundraiser day by dressing up as ‘Super Heroes’, we are all our own super hero!

Donations of €2 will be going towards Special Olympics Ireland and their up coming World Games in Abu Dhabi March 2019. There will be bucket collections at home time 1:10pm and 2:10pm also.

Special Olympics is particularly close to one of our teachers, Kim who is a voluntary coach within the sport of badminton. She has lead a 24 strong team representing the Eastern Region through the Irish Games last June 2018 and now embarks on this journey as the Head Coach for badminton, Team Ireland.

There are 3 badminton athletes competing at the Games, they have been training hard over the last 4 months with Kim. The preparation is key for developing relationships, partnerships, building upon their badminton skills, cultural expectations, World Games expectations, healthy attitude towards mind and body. All in all, there is a lot to prepare for as once in Abu Dhabi we will compete in a much bigger environment spanning 9 badminton courts and 2 warm up courts in the ADNEC facility, Abu Dhabi.
