Greetings! First Class started the New Year preparing for their Learn Together Assembly with Third Class. Our theme was ‘Love’ and we read different books together to explore what love means to us and how love can change and grow over time. First Class created different shades of red in art and made beautiful hearts. In SPHE we spoke about the people we love and trust with all our hearts (our Superheroes!) and wrote their names in our hearts. First Class performed really, really well at the assembly and used a microphone to share some poems and all we learned about love. Our class also helped to raise lots of money for Special Olympics Ireland by taking part in SuperHero Day. Our classroom teddy even transformed into a Super Ted for the day!
During STEM Week Fourth Class visited our classroom and taught us how to code BeeBots. They had four stations for us to practice our coding skills – it was great fun!
First Class really enjoy playing with lego and were delighted to be presented with some lego challenges also.
As a class we investigated how and why paper spinners of different sizes fall to the ground. This led us to our Design and Make challenge: design a parachute to bring Humpty Dumpty safely to the ground!! Each team came up with wonderful designs and used different sized material to make their parachute. The good news is that Humpty made it safely to the ground, relatively unharmed!
First Class made beautiful posters for the school’s STEM Showcase. We saw lots of interesting experiments when we visited the showcase and even saw a rocket launch in the yard!
