There is great excitement this week in Hansfield ETNS as STEM week gets underway!
Among the activities that the children will take part in this week are scientific investigations, coding, LEGO challenges and STEM themed reading in the library. There is also a STEM trolley doing the rounds with a variety of interesting tasks and materials.
We are delighted that many classes will receive visits from scientists and engineers and we are expecting some Skype calls as well. Thanks to all everybody for giving your time to tell the children about your job and carrying out workshops.
Tomorrow is internet safety day and our 6th classes have been busy preparing presentations for all the classes in the school to inform us about how to stay safe online.
There are amazing scientific investigations underway in the classrooms and at home and the children will get a chance to share their projects with the whole school and their families on Thursday at the STEM showcase in the school hall.
All children will visit the showcase during the day and parents / guardians are welcome to come along from 12:30 – 13:00 (Junior Showcase by Senior Infants – 2nd Classes) and from 13:00 – 13:40 (Senior Showcase by 3rd to 6th Classes).
Joe’s famous Friday quiz will have a STEM twist this week and certificates will be awarded at assemblies to some of our super scientists!
