Fifth Class Learning From Home, 29 – 30 June

Hello to the fifth class children, well for another day or two before you become top of the food chain in HETNS and take your rightful place as sixth class students… the role models and ones that set the example for all who come after you.👩🏻‍🎓👨🏽‍🎓
Almost time to say goodbye until late August…👋 What a year this has been. Could any of us have predicted how fifth class would turn out? Not in our wildest dreams!🤯
We have put together a reading list for you, from both fifth class students’ recommendations and a few that might be new to you. Of course you don’t have to choose your reading material from this, if you have personal preferences for reading, continue with those… as long as you’re reading! 📚

We have included some websites and apps as well for games and interactive ways to continue practising English, Maths and Gaeilge at home, useful all year round, not just for rainy summer days. 📱💻👩🏾‍💻👨🏼‍💻

The reading list and websites are shared with you through seesaw.

In addition to these, we have shared the links to an end of year school disco and a reflective activity. Please logon to seesaw to receive farewell messages from your teachers.

We would also encourage you to get outdoors during this summer, lots of you have probably decided not to travel by airplane this summer to visit relatives and friends or for foreign holidays. 😖If you’re staying in Ireland (like us), day trips to the beach – Dublin is a coastal county, remember… as well as counties like Meath, Louth, Down and Antrim to the north of us and Wicklow, Wexford, Waterford and Cork to the south provide breath-taking scenery and welcome breaks from our usual environment. The Phoenix Park and Catherine’s Park, only ten minutes away from Hansfield provide wonderful wide open spaces for picnics and recreational activities like running, cycling and ball games (cricket and football). Dublin zoo and lots of farms will be open for visitors. 🏖⛰🚃🚗🛹🚲 Message is.. “just get out and enjoy what’s on offer locally, you’ll find more than you expected!”🤗🍦

Well done on all your hard work this year. We are really proud of you all. Enjoy the summer holidays and we’ll see you at the end of August.

Fifth Class Learning From Home 22nd – 26th June

Greetings Fifth Class. We cannot believe that it is the last full week of Fifth Class!  Well done on all of your hard work last week and thanks for sharing your activities with us on seesaw.   We hope that you enjoyed learning about water safety.  There were some fantastic posters created last week to promote water safety and you can see the winners on the school website.

This week’s learning from home will be slightly different as we are going on our “virtual school tour”. We are taking a trip to tour NASA- at home. Here is a link to the NASA at home website: where there are lots of different virtual tours you can take. Take your time and explore these. Below is a list of activities and projects. You should complete at least TWO of these, or as many more as you would like.

We hope you enjoy the activities this week and we are looking forward to seeing your work on seesaw.

5th Class Winners 🏅

Afternoon All!

Hope everyone is doing okay this week. The weather turned on us this week, but the farmers must also be kept happy🌧☔

Did you know that this week was Water Safety Week? Fifth Class did. They have been busy brushing up on safety tips and educating themselves on how to keep safe in water… you can check it out here…

Have a look at the Fifth Class winners. They were tasked with designing a poster or leaflet to promote safety in water.

Jayden from Niall’s very effective poster. 🚣🏽‍♂️

Alivia from Roseanne’s class put together a very comprehensive and informative leaflet… great effort went into this. 🏄🏽‍♀️

Another super design from Shreya in Bernadine’s class, great use of graphics and clever way of presenting important information. 🏊🏾‍♀️

Well done to all the winners 👏👏👏 and another bualadh bos for the efforts made in see-saw work this week 👏👏. Final push for the end of the school year… next week is going to be a little different. We’re taking a trip, you won’t need a permission slip from your parents but you will need your virtual passports… 🚀

Have a fantastic weekend Fifth Class! 🤗

As usual, if there are questions in your homework that relate to topics that you didn’t learn about when you were in school, please don’t worry about this – everyone is in the same situation and we will all catch up in September.

And now for some exiting news. Our school will be using a new music programme next year called Dabbledoo Music. It is an exciting and interactive programme that will make learning music fun. And you can use it at home! Why not ask your parents to sign up and you can access the resources straight away? We would love to hear what you think. The parents’ course is currently free until the end of August but if you sign up through this link you will get continued access:
