Last Friday, the 19th May, the three 2nd classes went on our educational excursion. We visited two places, so it was an action packed day.
First of all, we went into the Ark theatre in Temple Bar to see ‘At Home Alone’. This was a dance show aimed at encouraging children to use technology at home in creative ways. All of the children seemed to really enjoy the show, especially the interactive part where they were able to go onto the stage, participate in the dancing and see themselves on the big screen! Parents, if you have never been to the Ark before, it is well worth checking out as they run very innovative and interesting shows there at reasonable prices. http://ark.ie/
Following the show, after a quick snack, we walked up to Dublinia in Christchurch, to learn about Vikings and Medieval Dublin. We had a guided tour of the museum by tour guides who were dressed in Viking clothing. The children seemed to enjoy the hands on aspect of this tour; some of them even got to try on Viking clothing, helmets and touch some Viking weapons! http://www.dublinia.ie/
It was a fantastic day, enjoyed by all the children and teachers. There were some sleepy people on the bus on the way home, which is always a sign of a busy day! Check out some of the pictures below.
